Colman launches computer room floor grilles
The growth in data centres fuelled by the need for data management, co-location sites, computer rooms and exchanges has seen an increase in cooling requirements and the delivery of additional services via floor voids without impacting valuable and costly floor space. In response Colman is offering heavy duty floor grilles to meet the demands for in-floor air distribution systems in buildings typically constructed with raised floors.
Two models have been launched, the heavy duty TJH and TJM medium duty floor grilles, both designed to replace standard 600mm square tiles in raised access floor systems. The TJM grille is suitable for office environments whereas the TJH has been robustly designed for heavy environments such as computer rooms and data centres.
Constructed from high grade aluminium extrusions to EN 755-9:200, both models have been aesthetically designed to provide cool air precisely where required, eliminating high temperatures and possible risk of equipment failure.
The framework for both models is mitred and welded to form a rigid frame. The heavy duty TJH core comprises of 6mm aluminium bars set straight on a 12.5mm pitch. The blades are fully supported at the sides and across the grille centre for maximum strength.
Both models meet the current floor grille specifications and the TJH also complies with the relevant sections of the PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU specification for Raised Access Floors March 1992 and complies with IBM’s own Management Design Guide for Raised Access Floors.
Although supplied as standard sizes to suit floor panels modules used by most flooring manufacturers, special sizes are available in both models as a customised option along with alternative finishes such as polyester powder, Nylon or a ShadowLine finish.
