Portuguese Oriental Museum specifies Vapacs for humidity
Environmental conditions in Portugal’s latest museum project, the Orient Museum are fundamental for the display of artefacts and works of art and the comfort of the viewing public. Humidification is playing focal role in the project and Vapac has been awarded the contract to provide a range if units to deliver the necessary humidity.
Vapac secured the project to provide a combination of LE45, LE90 and LE90Pd
electrode boilers in addition to pipes and ancillary equipment via its Portuguese
distributor, Armacan Equipamentos Industriais Ld.
Founded in 1997, Armacan offers a wide range of products for air conditioning systems, industrial and refrigeration plants. Humidification systems are a major part of its portfolio. Armacan and Vapac worked jointly to secure the museum project.
The Orient Museum situated on Lisbon’s waterfront, was instigated by the Fundação Orient’s wish to have a modern and dynamic museum space that will not only help conserve evidence of the Portuguese presence in the Orient, but raise public awareness of the culture and art of Asian countries.
Construction work on the Pedro Álvares Cabral building which will house
the museum originally started in 1939. The transformation that is now underway
into a modern cultural facility is a trend that is being replicated across
many European ports for such as Bilbao, Rotterdam and London.
The museum is designed to act as a high quality centre for cultural activities whose collections, services and events will make it a leading facility for study of the historical, cultural and artistic relations between Portugal and Oriental countries.
The total area is around 18,000 m2, with a ground area of 2,750 m2. It has a basement and six storeys, which will house the permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as holding the storerooms, technical support departments, educational department, the Orient Document and Information Centre and a 400-seat auditorium. There will also be a restaurant on the top floor, a café and a bookshop.
The Orient Museum will bring together collections whose central theme is the Orient, focusing on historical, social, religious, anthropological, ethnological, archaeological and artistic aspects.
